AUGRABIES FALLS NATIONAL PARK

The Augrabies Falls are one of South Africa's most impressive waterfalls. The Namaqua name Augrabies means 'Place of Great Noise', which gives a fair indication of their impressive size and strength! The falls are one of the six largest in the world. When the river is in flood, the water crashes over the cliff in 19 separate falls, the volume exceeding that of the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Good viewing points are at Arrow Head, Ararat, Moon Rock and Oranjekom, as well as from the suspension bridge over the main falls.
