SKELETON COAST

The Skeleton Coast Park covers more than a million and a half hectares and consists of fog-bound coast, gravel plains and mirages. Its eerie atmosphere is compounded by shipwrecks and abandoned mines. The southern section is more accessible to tourists than the northern wilderness section of the park. Permits are required to enter the park and accommodation is available at two small fishing villages. An amaizing number and variety of desert animals can be seen at the waterholes. Fly-in safaris are the only means of visiting the northern Wilderness Area.
