STERKFONTEIN CAVES

These caves were the site of the discovery of the famous MRS PLES (Plesianthropus Transvaalenis) by Dr Robert Broom who described the caves as the anthropological treasure house of the world. Many bones of extinct animals have also been discovered here, including those of apes and horses, smaller mammals and carnivores.
