VICTORIA & ALFRED WATERFRONT

The V&A Waterfront is definitely one of the biggest tourist attractions in Cape Town. It was originally a port built in 1860, when Prince Alfred, Queen Victoria's second son, tipped the rock for construction for the breakwater. Original buildings have been renovated and new ones developed in Victorian style. The V&A Watrefront is still a working harbour and is a vibrant mix of museums, theatres and cinemas, including a large-screen Imax Cinema, an aquarium, craft markets, bars, restaurants, first class hotels, live music and outdoor entertainment. The Two Oceans Aquarium is a new type of international marine zoo and a visit here is a must even if you have seen the Australian or the Californian equivalent. The Robben Island Exhibition and Information Centre is also located here.
